Oral surgery

Oral surgery is an overall word for all surgical done dental treatments. These can be tooth extractions, root end surgery, implants and surgery on suft tissue. It is usually done by oral surgeons.
The understanding of oral surgery in our dental office will maybe differ from the opinion of several „classic“ oral surgeons.

Our starting point of performing oral surgery is coming from the preservative disciplines in dentistry.
The overall aim should be the preserving of your natural dentition.

According to that goal we will discuss all options before the treatment with you and also with our specialists.
Especially if it comes to root end resections (apicoectomy) our specialist in endodontology will discuss options to avoid the treatment.
In a lot of cases a retreatment of the already done root canal treatment will lead to a successful outcome.

If you have extensive build ups like huge posts or big dental suprastructures on the inflamed teeth a microsurgical root end therapy can be the most minimal treatment option.
To offer you the best you can get, our specialist Dr. Sebastian Zorn, participated at the „International program in Endodontics and endodontic Microsurgery“ at the Department of Endodontics University of Pennsylvania, the cradle of endodontic Microsurgery. These microsurgeries, performed under a highly magnifying dental microscope with the latest materials can have a very high success rate.

However, if a joint decision is made to remove a tooth, this will be done as gently and minimally invasively as possible so as not to destroy the neighbouring structures.
This benefits not only your teeth, but also your overall health, as minor wounds heal faster and less painfully.
If you are missing teeth and decide to replace them with implants, we will discuss the position of the future implant with you in detail – digitally visualised in three dimensions if required. Ultimately, the aim is to place a beautiful and functional crown on an implant and to preserve the body’s own structures around the implant in the long term.

Following the principles of tooth-preserving disciplines, we treat the affected tissue in a particularly gentle, careful and minimally invasive manner. Much attention is paid to the gums, as they form the basis for highly aesthetic dentures, particularly in the anterior region, and are essential for long-term, healthy conditions without inflammation in the posterior region.

Modern tooth-preserving oral surgery is minimally invasive, gentle surgery that doesn’t have to be scary and gives your teeth, gums or implants a long, healthy life.
